Dr. Ling Zhiyong published the results of the Qinghai-Tibet scientific expedition in Geomorphology

Time:2020-03-02

Recently, Dr. Ling Zhiyong, an assistant researcher at the Salt Lake Geology and Environment Laboratory of ISL, published in "Geomorphology" entitled "Spatial-temporal differentiation of eolian sediments in the Yarlung Tsangpo catchment, Tibetan Plateau, and response to global climate change since the Last Glaciation".

"Geomorphology" is the main academic journal of the International Society of Geomorphology, which mainly publishes the latest research results in the field of international geomorphology, covering the processes and mechanisms of the Earth's surface system, human activities and environmental evolution, and global changes. The journal is one of the main core journals in the field of geosciences. It has strong comprehensive content, large reading volume, and fast information dissemination. It is favored by the majority of geoscience workers. In recent years, the impact factor (Impact factor) has continued to rise. It is 3.68 in 2019, 5 The annual impact factor is 3.88, and it is now a TOP journal in the second area of the earth science field.

This research is the first major achievement since the establishment of the second Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Comprehensive Scientific Investigation Project (Nos. 2019QZKK0602 & 2019QZKK0805) undertaken by ISL in 2019. This achievement is mainly based on the principle of regional differentiation of natural geographical environment, which analyzed the temporal and spatial differentiation characteristics of the age of the wind-induced sediments in the Yarlung Zangbo River (Figure 1) of the Tibetan Plateau, and discussesed the relationship between wind-induced sediments on global climate change and regional natural environmental factors. The study aims to provide background information for the study of aerosol and dust release and human environmental safety in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau; at the same time, it is to define the age range and spatial difference of the wind-induced sediments in the Yarlung Zangbo River Basin, to clarify the wind-induced sediments and paleo-climatic responses of the plateau valleys, and to reveal their formation The relationship between development and the ups and downs of the Indian monsoon, westerly winds and plateau monsoons is of great significance.
