In order to speed up the construction of Qinghai province science and technology Innovation System, to enhance the capacity of scientific and technology innovation, Qinghai province Science and Technology Department approve Laboratory of Salt Lake Geology and Environment of Qinghai Institute of Salt Lakes became the new provincial key laboratory of 2012.
The Key Laboratory of Salt Lake Geology and Environment is the earliest Chinese research groups for salt lake geology and environment. The laboratory has made a number of initiating and fundamental contributions to the development of salt lake geological sciences in China since it was established. Now it is a modern laboratory with complete disciplines and advanced facilities, and it keeps long-term, extensive cooperative relationships with many famous foreign and domestic institutions and universities.
There are 37 academic staff members in the laboratory now, and 18 of them have PhD degrees, including an Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and 11 full Professorial fellow.
Future, Laboratory of Salt Lake Geology and Environment will gradually improve the operational mechanism, integrated the scientific and technological resources, the concise research directions, increase investment, accelerate the introduction and training. Continuously improve the level of scientific research and technological innovation capacity to fully play a supporting role for the economic and social development in Qinghai Province.
