The 12th China Academic Conference on Luminescence and Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) Dating concluded in Dali, Yunnan on July 24th. ISL Research Prof. LAI Zhongping proposed to host the 13th Conference in ISL during the session, which was unanimously agreed by all the attendants.
Lai Zhongping made a report titled Medium-grained Quartz Luminescence Dating and Quaternary Environmental Evolution of Tibetan Plateau at the conference. He concluded the latest progress of medium-grained quartz light luminescence dating, and summarized a series of achievements on the environmental change of Tibetan Plateau and the surrounding areas using this new method made by his research team in the last three years.
Lai Zhongping returned to China in late 2007. His team has published more than 20 quality papers in the last two years, covering studies on loess landforms, deserts, lakes, glaciers, geologic hazards, archaeology, and mechanism of luminescence dating. Prof. Lai is currently deputy editor of Aeolian Research and a member of the editorial board of Geochronometria.
