On April 8, Academician Chai Liyuan, President of Tianjin University and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, led a delegation to visit the Institute of Salt Lakes (ISL). The delegation was greeted by Zheng Shili, Acting Director of ISL, Wang Jianping, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Director, and Feng Haitao, Deputy Director of ISL.
Chai and his delegation toured ISL’s Scientific Achievements Exhibition Hall, gaining insights into the institute’s historical development, research platforms, talent pool, scientific accomplishments, and significant contributions.
A symposium was chaired by Zheng Shili, who extended a warm welcome to the delegation. Zheng acknowledged Tianjin University’s achievements in talent cultivation, disciplinary development, and technological innovation. He expressed hope that the visit would catalyze deeper collaboration, particularly in addressing national strategic needs and industrial trends. He emphasized joint efforts to secure major scientific and technological projects, aiming to drive high-quality development in the salt lake industry.
Hu Wenping, Standing Committee Member of Tianjin University’s Party Committee and Executive Vice President, highlighted the strong foundation for cooperation between the two institutions. He proposed enhanced collaboration in organizing major research initiatives, building innovation platforms, and advancing international partnerships.
Chai Liyuan praised ISL’s mission, impactful contributions, and research framework. He stressed the importance of innovating collaborative models to establish a joint innovation entity, clarifying strategic goals to jointly explore pathways for the salt lake industry’s development. Chai called for strengthened cooperation in key areas such as salt lake resources, new energy, and advanced materials, aligning with the high-quality development goals of Qinghai Province and Xining City to foster mutual growth.
The meeting was attended by representatives from Tianjin University’s Party Committee Office, President’s Office, Academy of Science and Technology Development, and other departments, as well as ISL’s Office of the Director, Party Committee Office, Human Resources and Education Division, Science and Technology Division, and heads of various research units.
