ISL and China Salt Lake Group Forge Synergy at Collaborative Tech Symposium

Time:2025-04-16

March 26, 2025, Qinghai – The Qinghai Institute of Salt Lakes (ISL) and China Salt Lake Industry Group convened a technical exchange meeting to explore deeper integration of scientific innovation and industrial applications in salt lake resource development. The discussions focused on accelerating the cultivation of next-generation productivity in the sector. ISL’s Vice Director Zheng Shili (Presiding) and Deputy Party Secretary Wang Jianping led the delegation, while China Salt Lake’s Party Secretary Xue Fei and Chief Engineer Chen Songxuan chaired the event.

Xue Fei welcomed the ISL team, emphasizing China Salt Lake’s role as China’s largest potash fertilizer and lithium production base. “We serve as a stabilizer for national food security, a cornerstone for new energy materials, and an innovator in premium light metal solutions,” he stated. Recognizing ISL’s contributions to salt lake research, Xue called for strengthened collaboration to drive intelligent, eco-friendly, and high-value industrial upgrades. “Our shared mission demands innovative approaches to develop new productive forces,” he added.

Zheng Shili reaffirmed ISL’s commitment to overcoming technical bottlenecks in comprehensive salt lake utilization. “While we’ve expanded beyond traditional potash into lithium, boron, and rubidium extraction, partnerships like this are crucial to address challenges in lithium recovery efficiency, green magnesium processing, and rare element recycling,” he noted. The director proposed establishing permanent industry-academia-research mechanisms to co-develop solutions.

Technical teams from ISL’s Department of Science and Technology and the Institute of Process Engineering presented recent advancements, including breakthroughs in resource extraction efficiency and high-value product development. Participants identified collaborative opportunities in joint R&D projects, shared innovation platforms, and technology commercialization. Concrete plans were drafted to implement strategic initiatives.

Both parties agreed to prioritize solving key scientific challenges and core technical bottlenecks in salt lake industries through coordinated efforts. The meeting concluded with commitments to regular progress reviews and site visits to major facilities, including subsidiaries like Lanke Lithium and Yanhu Telimagnesium.

Attendees included ISL’s research unit leaders and executives from China Salt Lake affiliates such as Yanhu Co., Qinghai Huixin, and Potash Fertilizer Branch.
