The 20th Academic Salon was held by Group of Youth Innovation Promotion Association of ISL

Time:2018-11-27

From November 24 to 26, the 20th Academic Salon was held by Group of Youth Innovation Promotion Association in the Conference Room on the sixth floor of ISL. Dr. Zhang Xiaojian from Nanjing University was invited to conduct academic exchanges and make a report.

Dr. Zhang Xiaojian gave an academic report entitled “Simulation Research on Precipitation Changes in the Northeast of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau”. He used the climate model and environmental proxy indicators to explore the changes in the Holocene water vapor source and precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau. His research found that the water vapor in the northeastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau is mainly from the Pacific Ocean. The East Asian summer monsoon is a very complex climate system. Its circulation and precipitation are not fully coupled. The East Asian summer monsoon circulation is the result of differences in sea and land heat. However, East Asian summer monsoon precipitation is the product of the interaction between East Asian summer monsoon and westerly circulation.

The academic report lasted nearly an hour, and Zhang Xiaojian’s wonderful report made the participating teachers and students gain a lot. After the report was over, the rapporteur and the teachers and students at the meeting had a heated discussion and in-depth exchange on issues of interest.
