On Dec 10, ISL organized the 10th “Salt Lake Science and Technology Forum” in the Conference Room on the sixth floor of ISL. Professor Yuan Hu from University of Science and Technology of China and Jianping Wang from ISL were invited to give reports. Forum was chaired by the deputy director Dongping.
Professor Hu gave a report named “Polymer / layered Compound Nanocomposites: Improving the Fire Safety of Polymer Materials”. Report introduces the research progress of polymer / layered compound nanocomposites and the related fields from the flame retardant, preparation of materials, combustion behavior and toxicity aspects. Professor Hu, a Ph.D. supervisor, is the director of Safety Materials Institute, State Key Laboratory of Fire Science, University of Science and Technology of China and the supervisor of the Department of Safety Science and Engineering. His main research fields is polymer nanocomposites, new flame retardant and flame retardant polymer materials, fire safety evaluation of materials, hazardous chemicals monitoring, emergency response and key technologies of environmental restoration. In recent years, Prof. Hu has presided one subproject supported by the National Basic Research Program of China (also known as the “973” Program), three subprojects supported by the National Science & Technology Pillar Program in the Eleventh Five-year Plan Period, three projects supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, three projects supported by Research Fund for the Doctoral Program of Higher Education of China and three industrialization projects supported by government. Moreover, Prof. Hu has participated in many research projects as a key researcher. Prof. Hu has authored over 300 research papers indexed by SCI in corresponding author capacity, six cooperative books and owned thirteen Chinese patents. He has also got National Teaching Achievement Award, First Award and Anhui Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, Second-class Award.
Researcher Jianping Wang gave a report named “the Conception of National Salt Lake Data Center’s Construction Based on Complex Network Analysis and Data-intensive Scientific Research Paradigm”. The report highlighted the importance of building up the National Salt Lake Data Center from different aspects including the background significance, the construction of infrastructure, the feasibility analysis, contents, objectives, key technical issues, risk assessment, response strategies, sustainable development and implementation plan.
