ISL scientists visited Israel Chemicals Ltd. (ICL), its research and dev institute and pilot plant in Haifa and potash facilities at Dead Sea upon invitation in late October 2009.

By virtue of affluent salt lake resources of Dead Sea, Israel has a long history of technological advantage in developing salt lake potassium, magnesium, bromine resources. The country is in a leading position in the technologies of producing potassium chloride, magnesium hydroxide retardants, magnesium alloys and bromine.

It is significant to learn their technologies in developing salt lake resources as well as the corresponding management expertise, in that it may boost the exploitation of China western salt lakes.

ICL showed their warm welcome by particularly putting up China's national flag, and arranged specialists to make a couple of presentations.

The ISL scientists were designated from the institute's potassium and magnesium study groups undertaking important salt utilization projects.

Through the visit, the ISL vision on salt lake science and technology was broadened, and relations established between ICL and ISL.
