International Conference on Green and High-Value Utilization of Salt Lake Resources Successfully Held by ISL

  The "International Conference on Green and High-Value Utilization of Salt Lake Resources" was successfully hosted online in Xining, Qinghai, from September 6 to September 8. The conference was organized by ISL and co-hosted by the Institute of Process Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, the Foreign Experts Bureau of Qinghai Province, the Institute of Earth Environment of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Expert Association of Qinghai Province, and the Chemical and Materials Society of Qinghai Province.

  The meeting carried out the essential directives of president Xi Jinping about the development of the "four highlands" of Qinghai Province's industry. With a strong focus on promoting the development of a world-class salt lake industry base, it aspired to improve the complete development and high-value usage of salt lake resources. The conference concentrated on three main topics: ecological safety and resource guarantee for the development and utilization of Salt Lake resources; theory and technology of the green and efficient separation of salt lake resources; and key technologies for the preparation of high-end chemical materials with salt lakes.

  Director Wu Zhijian of the ISL gave a statement at the conference's opening ceremony, noting that the institute is currently setting up the national key laboratory for the green and high-value utilization of salt lake resources. The conference was presided over by Associate Director Feng Haitao of the ISL. They invited professionals and academics who are passionate about salt lakes to actively join the salt lake family, discuss pertinent issues relating to salt lakes, plan for salt lake development, and work together to create a brighter future for salt lakes.

  More than 3,000 participants from more than 40 universities, research institutes, and businesses attended the conference, which invited 32 eminent scholars from eight countries and regions, including China, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, Australia, and Belgium, to deliver keynote speeches. The most recent advances in research and scientific accomplishments in salt lake science and technology were amply illustrated. A separate youth forum was also established at the conference to foster young people's interest in salt lake science and technology.

  Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Associate Director of ISL, Wang, Jianping thanked the committee for their contributions in her closing remarks. She acknowledged the conference's significant contribution to facilitating the sharing of the most recent accomplishments and fostering closer collaboration. In order to make this international conference a venue that draws top talent, encourages open cooperation, and draws exceptional talent from around the world, she also highlighted aspirations and prospects for further developing the conference structure.
