1. RESEARCH GROUP Comprehensive Development and Utilization of the Salt Lake Resources Group 2. BRIEF INTRODUCTION The research group was founded in 2005, and consists of 23 researchers, including 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 4 research assistants, 1 engineer, 9 students for degree education and 3 temporary researchers. The group has been engaging in the comprehensive development and utilization of salt lake resources. The research fields included boron and lithium extraction from the high Mg/Li ratio salt lake brines, lithium extraction from salt lakes in South America, recycle lithium from spent LIBs, synthesis of high valued magnesium based flame retardants, development of magnesium or boron based functional composites, investigations on the flame retardant property of inorganic-polymer composites, potassium salt flotation from solid potassium ores, production of snow-melting agent and food additives from magnesium resources in salt lakes, comprehensive utilization of the phosphorous ore tailings, solution chemistry, computational chemistry and so on. At present, there are more 20 research projects under study, with a total scientific research fund of more than 40 million yuan. The research group has built testing platform for composition analysis, experiment platform for separation and purification salt lake metal elements, platform for preparation of micro-nano inorganic function materials and platform for processing and testing fire safety composite materials. More than 50 sets of various large instruments and equipment can well support the scientific research carried out smoothly. While carrying out basic theoretical research, the research group closely combines industrial development needs and focus on industrial application of scientific research results. The research group has published 78 research papers on core journals at home and abroad, of which 32 were indexed in SCI, and has applied 56 patents and 26 pieces were authorized. The research achievements of lithium extraction from high Mg/Li ratio salt lake brines, production of high valued Mg(OH)2 flame retardant, snow-melting agent and food additives from magnesium resources in salt lakes, and production of potash fertilizer from solid potassium ores have been successfully applied to industrial production. 3.
