On the morning of June 28, at the invitation of the Salt Lake Geology and Environment Laboratory of ISL, Professor Jiang Hongyu of the State Key Laboratory of Biogeology and Environmental Geology of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), came to Qinghai Salt Lake for academic exchanges and made a report. Professor Zhang Xiying, deputy director of the laboratory, presided over the report.
Professor Jiang’s academic report titled “The Role of Microbial Carbon Cycling in the Tibetan Plateau Lakes”, with Qinghai Lake as an example. The report covers the effects of carbon source types on lake CO2 release and its relationship to salinity, and the effects of different carbon source additions on CO2 release rates. Jiang's team research shows that the rates of CO2 production in lakes with different salinities are significantly different, which is of great significance to the carbon cycle in the environment. After the report, Professor Jiang had a heated discussion and academic exchanges with geoscience researchers, and also expressed his willingness to cooperate with the geoscience laboratory for long-term and in-depth cooperation.
