On October 21, ISL organized the 19th “Salt Lake Science and Technology Forum” in the Conference Room on the sixth floor of ISL. Professor Zhiqiang Xuan was invited to give reports. Forum was chaired by Yuan Zhou, the director of the salt lake resources lab.

Professor Zhiqiang Xuan gave us a report named “Study on the Research Direction of Salt Lake and Salt Resources in China”. In the report, Professor Xuan used 50 books to show the scientific research of Chinese potash more than 60 years in geological prospecting and resource development and utilization, which reflects the wisdom of several generations of Chinese scientific and technological personnel and selfless dedication. The report mentioned the development direction of China's salt lake and salt resources and proposed to study from the surface salt lake to underground ancient salt mine, the mineral from the continental origin of salt into the marine or composite phase. He also pointed out that the development of ISL at a critical moment before and after and the use of good and retain talent is the key. Finally, professor Xuan stressed that young people want to learn the entrepreneurial spirit of the older generation salt lakers.

In the following interactive session, all attendees discussed and exchanged ideas around the reports. Two experts gave us wonderful reports on different areas, it promoted the academic exchanges of internal and external researchers, was beneficial to broad academic vision of the scientific research personnel, and drove young researchers study enthusiasm and initiative.
