On May 9, 2012, Pro.Wei Gangjian, the researcher of Guangzhou Institute of Geochemistry CAS and member of State Key Laboratory of Isotope Geochemistry, visited ISL and did the academic exchange. Pro.WEI was invited by researcher Xiao Yingkai and researcher HAN Fengqin from Geology and Environment Laboratory of Salt Lake.

During the visit, Pro.WEI delivery a lecture about the theme of “Seawater pH Change History and Ocean Acidification” from the basic characteristics of the surface ocean pH change, the fate of coral reefs in the context of ocean pH change during ocean acidification and ocean acidification since the Industrial Revolution. XIAO Yingkai and Pro.WEI got depth discussions on scientific issues in reconstruction of seawater pH by using the coral boron isotope.

Pro.WEI concentrates his research interests on the fractionations and their mechanisms of both traditional and non-traditional stable isotopes during varied processes on earth's surface, with a specific interest in developing new methods/techniques for current existed or new isotopic systematic. The response of the isotopic systematic to climate and environmental factors is particularly investigated, and applied in researches of climatic.
