    ISL Research Prof. LAI Zhongping Attends the 8th International Symposium on Environmental Processes of East Eurasia and the International Symposium on Geomorphology of Zhangjiajie

    ISL Research Prof. LAI Zhongping attended The 8th International Symposium on Environmental Processes of East Eurasia and delivered a lecture in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China, on Nov 6, 2010. During the symposium, Professor Lai had discussions with Professor Stephen Wells, who is the director of Desert Research Institute (DRI), USA, about mutual collaborations.

    The International Symposium on Geomorphology of Zhangjiajie was convoked in Zhangjiajie, Hubei Province, China on Nov 9, 2010. Professor Lai attended the symposium. Academician Jiaqi Liu and Tingdong Li from CAS and many foreign experts attended the symposium, Professor Andrew Goudie (the former president of International Association of Geomorphology), Professor Michael Crozier from University of Victoria (the president of International Association of Geomorphology), and Professor Gary Brierley from University of Auckland (the vice-Chairman of International Association of Geomorphology).Professor Lai discussed with Professors Goudie and Gary about the further cooperation during the symposium. They planned to hold an international workshop on environment, ecology, geologic hazard, etc., in the eastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau and Sanjiangyuan (three-river heads) region.
