ISL Research Prof. LAI Zhongping took part in a scientific expedition team consisting of 11 members from USA, Israel, China and Mongolia, holding a three-week scientific expedition of gobies and deserts in the Republic of Mongolia June 29 through July 18.
The chief scientist of this expedition was Prof. Gillespie, from the University of Washington, who also works as chief editor of Quaternary Research. The team investigated on Gobi, deserts, loess landforms and their dust sources, as well as salt lakes, glaciers, glacial drifts and their relations with paleo-hydrological regimes.
Prof. Sugebate, president of Mongolian Science Promotion Foundation held a dinner party in Ulan Bator on June 29th, feting the team members. He had a brief discussion with Lai Zhongping on scientific exchanges and cooperation.
Prof. Onuf, director of Geology and Mineral Resources Institute of Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS), and Prof. Daugtov, director of Geography Institute of MAS also joined in the discussion.
